Official Ducati SuperSport 950: inheriting a lot from the Panigale V4

OUWA – Ducati SuperSport 950. In the Ducati World Première 2021 event, Ducati has just officially introduced its new superbike model, the all-new SuperSport 950. Basically, the SuperSport 950’s design is more inspired by the Panigale V4, sporty, dynamic, and powerful than the previous generation.

Design

One of the most noticeable changes on the Ducati SuperSport 950 is the full LED lighting system with a beautiful daytime positioning strip. The air intakes located at the top of the car are also redesigned, more refined, and compact. The main windshield has also been redesigned, streamlined and more flexible, can be adjusted to 2 positions, and helps to improve aerodynamics. From the side, the front bumper of the car owns the air slots inherited from the Panigale V4.

In addition, the vehicle’s shirt system has also been reworked, covering most of the mechanical details equipped on the car. It looks simple, but this change offers a lot of value, undoubtedly the aerodynamics first. In addition, these air slots help to direct hot air from inside the cooler to the outside, avoiding heat dissipation on the driver’s feet.

Frame

The new Ducati SuperSport 950 is equipped with a mesh frame, which uses the engine to act as part of the structure of the chassis. The main wire mesh is connected to the pillars, while the subframe connected to the rear seat is also fixed to the vertical post. This arrangement made it possible for Ducati engineers to create a very compact, lightweight chassis with high torsional rigidity, and almost a prerequisite for a car like the SuperSport 950. Thanks to the changes said above, the weight of the car reaches 210 kg, 1 kg lighter than the first generation SuperSport.

The front fork of the car is Marzocchi 43 mm in diameter, fully hydraulically adjustable, and preloaded. The rear is equipped with Sachs shock absorbers, which are fixed to the vertical part of the chassis on one side, while the other side is fixed to the swingarm. Of course, this fork is adjustable. In addition, the genuine Öhlins forks will be found on the SuperSport 950 S version. The brakes on the car are also certainly from Brembo.

Engine

The Ducati SuperSport 950 is powered by an 11 ° 937 cm3 Testastretta engine that complies with the Euro 5 emissions standards regulations. engine capacity, specifically with the vehicle’s maximum power and torque, will be 110 hp at 9,000 rpm and 93 Nm at 6,500 rpm.

More specifically, at 3,500 rpm, the engine reaches 80% of its maximum torque. As rpm increases, the torque value increases decisively and linearly, reaching a maximum of 93 Nm at 6,500 rpm. After this threshold, the torque curve decreases gradually, maintained at a value of over 90% until reaching 9,000 rpm, the capacity reaches the maximum limit of 110 horsepower.

This makes a lot of sense when driving on the road because the power is always maintained at all speeds, the ability to accelerate quickly helps the driver to move out of corners decisively while reducing gear shifting. when not needed. In addition to the Ride-by-Wire electronic throttle system, the SuperSport 950 will also be equipped with Ducati Quick Shift (DQS) 2-way up / down gearshift.

Electronic equipment

The standard equipment built into the SuperSport 950 includes:

  • ABS Cornering Bosch
  • Traction Control Ducati (DTC) EVO
  • Ducati Quick Shift (DQS) up / down EVO
  • Ducati Wheelie Control (DWC) EVO

Electronic equipment on the vehicle will be managed by a 6-axis inertial measuring unit (Inertial Measurement Unit, IMU) manufactured by Bosch. It is known that the IMU operates through data obtained from the accelerometer and gyroscope, responsible for continuously recording information about the slope or angle of rotation, thereby instructing other systems to adjust the star. for increased vehicle balance. The car has 3 driving modes, including Sport, Touring and Urban. When necessary, the user can fine-tune the parameters accordingly and restore to the default state if needed.

Another worthwhile upgrade is that the watch face is now replaced by a 4.3-inch TFT color display that displays more information and is clearer. Through this screen, users can easily set the modes as well as control the parameters that are being installed on the vehicle. In addition, at the core of the display is the Ducati Multimedia System (DMS), which connects to your phone via Bluetooth so you can receive notifications and adjust the music that is playing.
